Once you provide your visa application form, supporting documents and biometrics to the application centre, all the documentation passes on to the visa section of the British embassy, where an Entry Clearance Officer will scrutinise your documents and personal circumstances against the relevant immigration rules before deciding whether or not to grant you a visa.

When an Entry Clearance Officer cannot make an immediate decision about whether you qualify for a visa, you may be asked to attend an interview. Further documents might ask to be provided at that time.
